A record store& event space

Foot Work opened in February 2024 and became a hub for vinyl culture in the East Village Arts District — crates by day, DJs by night, everyone welcome to pull a record and put it on.

The idea

Buy it, play it, hear it loud

We wanted one room that did the whole job. Somewhere you could buy a record, put it straight onto a club-standard booth and hear what it actually sounds like through a proper system — then come back that night and watch an artist you love play on the same rig.

A full-stack vinyl station: the racks, the booth, the sound, the room. All-vinyl, no screens, and small enough that nothing ever felt like a performance. That was the aim, and it worked.

Long Beach was where the concept was born: an all-round vinyl space, not just a shop.

The nights

Close enough to seethe needle drop

Intimate vinyl showcases. Egyptian Lover and Natural Rhythm played. Seasons Recordings brought a showcase with Jamie Thinnes. Silky, Lars Behrenroth and Krane from Sunday Sessions took the decks. We put on a party with DJ Garth in the courtyard next door.

The room closed. The digging didn't.

Foot Work is an online record store now — new dance music vinyl, chosen the same way it was chosen for the shop. Every record has clips, so you can hear it before you commit, and everything ships from California in rigid mailers.
